Terms of Service
Last updated July 1, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Flow State Automation LLC(“Flow State Automation,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of Compose(the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Compose helps teachers turn their own question banks into multiple fair versions of a test, including optional AI-assisted rewording and answer-key checks, and export to document formats. We may update, improve, or change features over time.
Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You must be old enough to form a binding contract and use the Service in a professional educational capacity.
Your content
You retain all ownership of the questions, materials, and other content you upload or create (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you (including sending it to the subprocessors listed on our Subprocessorspage for AI processing, storage, and delivery). We do not use Your Content to train our own models, and we claim no ownership of it. You represent that you have the rights to the content you upload and that it does not infringe others’ rights or violate any law or school policy.
Acceptable use
- Do not upload student personal information or student education records; Compose is not a student-records system.
- Do not use the Service to infringe intellectual property or violate any law or exam-security policy that applies to you.
- Do not attempt to breach security, access other users’ data, disrupt the Service, or evade usage limits.
- Do not resell or provide the Service to third parties except your own students in the ordinary course of teaching.
AI-assisted features — your review is required
Compose can use AI to reword questions, propose variations, and flag possible answer-key issues. AI output can be wrong. AI-generated changes are drafts that you must review and approve before use, and you are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of any test you finalize, export, or administer. The Service is a tool to assist you, not a substitute for your professional judgment.
Subscriptions, trials, and billing
- Trial. New subscriptions begin with a free trial (currently one week). You provide a payment method at signup; you will not be charged during the trial.
- Renewal. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription converts to paid and renews automatically each billing period (monthly, or annually if you chose the annual plan) at the then-current price, until cancelled.
- Cancellation. You can cancel anytime from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep access until then.
- Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude taxes that may apply. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
- Changes. We may change prices or plans prospectively; we will give notice before a change affects your renewal.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or fit for your purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Flow State Automation will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Flow State Automation harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Flow State Automation LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in that state will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes not subject to arbitration or small-claims resolution.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
